Science is just realizing that there are relatively few processes that can be correctly predicted, that the greater part of the universe consists of "dynamical systems" that are far more intricate and delicate than logic can encompass. John Casti argues that a complexity that defies human logic is only natural, and unlike anything in the range of complexity books, he shows directly how complexity arises, and how it works. "Complexification" is a primer, in a sense, for life's most complicated processes, showing the reader why they are so complex, and laying a foundation for a science of surprise that can take the reader beyond where physics and common sense have led so far. John L. Casti is the author of "Searching for Certainty" and "Paradigms Lost".
Acerca del autor: John L. Casti is a member of the faculty of the Santa Fe Institute and a professor at the Technical University of Vienna. He divides his time between Santa Fe, New Mexico and Vienna.
