First edition, published at 12s. Two volumes octavo (21 x 13.5cm). Vol. I, pp. viii,496,[14]; Vol. II, pp. [iv],1-202,217-432,[4]. The pagination jump is common to all copies at the point which large folding letterpress table is inserted, the catchwords run correctly however. The table with a neat repaired closed tear, no loss. Some light marginal damp-staining to first twenty leaves or so in the first volume, otherwise a pleasant copy in contemporary calf, rebacked to style, the original labels being retained. Small stain to the foot of both spines. Period name to head of each title (that in Vol. I crossed out) and 19th C name on half-title & blank to both volumes, plus 20th C armoriai bookplate of Phillip David Carter. Vg.
