Western Hermann Tortoise (Testudo hermanni hermanni)
The Western species is considered the more vibrantly patterned of the two subspecies. It is native primarily to Spain, southern France, Corsica, Sardinia, and parts of Italy. These regions share a mild winter climate but experience extremely hot and dry summers, shaping the Western Hermann’s survival strategies.
This subspecies has a highly distinctive coloration: deep black markings, strong contrast along the scutes, and a bold yellow base tone. Their shells typically appear more domed, giving them a compact, rounded look compared to their Eastern relatives. Western Hermann tortoises also tend to be slightly smaller, which helped them survive in harsher, more resource-limited environments where smaller bodies required less energy.

We ask all customers to contact us for authorisation should they wish to return their order. Orders returned without authorisation may not be credited.
If you wish to return, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order to obtain authorisation.
Returns requested beyond this time will not be authorised.
Our team will provide full instructions on how to return your order and once received our returns department will process your refund.
Please note the cost to return any unwanted order to us is borne by the buyer.
