Collection of nine original poison labels for different products distributed by different stores or pharmacies. No dates, circa 1880s-1930s. Each label is very clean and intact with the most severe damage being limited to a few wrinkles and age toning. Some of the labels are virtually pristine and intact. Each label and the entire collection are Fine. The following is a description of each label with information such as the product, manufacturer, distributor, and measurements, if applicable. Some of the labels include antidote instructions if the product is accidentally swallowed. Only the Flea-Terror label includes instructions for proper application. All of the labels have red lettering or red and white lettering on white paper with the exception of two labels, which are noted in the following summary. (1) "Benzene (Petroleum Ether) (Naphtha) . Distributed by Staley Drug Co., Harlowton, Montana"; 2 1/2" x 2"; laboratory solvent for technical, not medicinal use. (2) "Oxalic Acid . North Hill Drug Co., Cor. Post and Garland, Spokane, Washington"; 2 1/2" x 1 1/2"; cleaning and bleaching agent. (3) "Tinct. Iodine, 83% Alcohol . J.E.C.F. Harper & Co., Druggists, Madison, Ind."; 2 1/2" x 1 1/2"; topical disinfectant. (4) "Lincoln Chemical Works, Violet Witch Hazel, Chicago"; 3" x 1/2"; topical antiseptic. (5) "Poison . Distributed by Lutes Drug Store, Longmont, Colorado"; 2 1/2" x 1 1/2." (6) "Argyrol Solution . City Drug Store, R. E. Thompson, 5019 N. Market St., Spokane, Wash."; 1 1/4" x 1 1/4"; antiseptic silver protein compound instrumental in controlling the 1918 flu pandemic. (7) "Powd. Sabadilla . Wallace Drug Co., Prescription Druggists, Wallace, Idaho"; 2 1/2" x 1 1/2"; likely pesticide. (8) "Flea-Terror, Boyson's Pharmacy, 21st and Valencia Streets, San Francisco"; red, white, and black lettering on red, white, gray, and black paper; 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"; pesticide for controlling fleas. (9) "Muriatic Acid . Stewart & Holmes Drug Co., Dispensing Pharmacists, Walla Walla, Washington"; orange and black lettering on orange paper; 2 1/2" x 1 1/2"; also known as hydrochloric acid, an industrial corrosive.
