Cognitive Computing for Risk Management

This book presents applications of cognitive management and cognitive computing in the fields of risk management, cognitive fraud detection, and in business decision making. The book provides insights on how cognitive management and cognitive computing enable businesses to quickly augment human intelligence and help humans perform tasks better. For example, the authors describe how by analyzing patterns in big data, small data, and "dark data," cognitive technologies can detect human behavior and suggest options for personalizing of products and services. The book studies companies in industries such as automotive, airline, health care, retail, wealth management, and litigation who have adopted these approaches.

Dr. Sasmita Rani Samanta, Ph.D (Management), Fellow of Royal Society of Arts(FRSA, UK), Fellow of Computer Society of India(FCSI), currently serving as a Full Professor of Commerce and Management and Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University, India. She has received 25 awards from different national and international organisations for her outstanding contribution to the field of education and leadership. She is perceptive academician, popular teacher, a leader par excellence loaded with a high degree of incisiveness and passion for research and schooling which is intermingling with an innovative pragmatically approach, the rationale behind the incisiveness and passion is a continuous thought-provoking moral idea to create a sustainable ecosystem for all stakeholder of the society which includes Chairman, TBI, KIIT University, Fellowship from USA States Department to attend three weeks Women Academic Leadership Program in USA among 10 academicians of South East Asia, in the University of Nebraska, Omaha (UNO) and has been honoured as honorary citizen of the State of Nebraska by Secretary of State, Nebraska, number of certificates from different international organisations / universities in Leadership starting from University of Nebraska, Omaha, CSCL Leadership Certificate by CSCL organisation and Commonwealth Secretariat, Stanford LEAD : Personal Leadership Certificate from Stanford Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, USA etc. Attended the Faculty Development Program in IIM, Bangalore, contributed substantially for different professional bodies of the country i.e. Indian Science Congress, Indian Academy of Social Sciences, Indian Commerce Association, Odisha Commerce Association etc as Member of Executive Committee for several years, selected top 100 mentors of CSCL Leaders, UK to mentor the leaders of commonwealth countries, selected among top 100 mentors of USA States Department for mentoring different sponsored program of State Department. She Has been appointed as Academic Ambassador of World Educational Services and Accreditation Ambassador of University Grants Commission Paramarsh Scheme. Contributing different academic bodies of the nation as Assessor, evaluator or member of the committee starting from University Grants Commission (UGC), National Accreditation and Assessment Council(NAAC) etc. Published number of research articles, the General Chair/ Key Note Speaker / Guest Speaker/ Chaired session in number of conferences, seminars, workshops etc in India and abroad and Edited books under Taylor-Frances, Wiley publications. Presently, she is the President, Indian Commerce Association and Odisha Commerce Association.

 

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Mallick Ph.D (Computer Science) is currently working as Associate Professor in the School of Computer Engineering, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University, Odisha, India. He has completed his Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF) in Kongju National University, South Korea; Ph.D. from Siksha „O‟ Anusandhan University; M.Tech. (CSE) from Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT); and M.C.A. from Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, India. Besides academics, he is also involved in various administrative activities, Member of Board of Studies, Member of Doctoral Research Evaluation Committee, Admission Committee, etc. His areas of research include Algorithm Design and Analysis, and Data Mining, Image Processing, Soft Computing, and Machine Learning. He has published several book chapters and papers in national and international journals and conference proceedings.

 

Dr. Prasant Kumar Pattnaik, Ph.D (Computer Science), Fellow IETE, Senior Member IEEE is a Professor at the School of Computer Engineering, KIIT Deemed University, Bhubaneswar. He has more than a decade of teaching and research experience. Dr. Pattnaik has published numbers of Research Papers in peer-reviewed International Journals and Conferences. He also published many edited book volumes in Springer, IGI Global and Wiley Publication and He has co-authored the popular Computer Science and Engineering books, “Fundamental of Mobile Computing”, PHI and “Cloud Computing Solutions: Architecture, Data Storage, Implementation and Security”, John Wiley & Sons Inc. His areas of interest include Mobile Computing, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Intelligent Systems and Brain Computer Interface. He is one of the Associate Editor of Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, IOS Press, and Series Editor of Advances in Quantum Computing book series, Wiley- Scrivener Publication, USA and Intelligent Systems Book Series, CRC Press, Taylor Francis Group, USA.

 

Dr Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Ph.D (Computer Science) is currently working with KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, INDIA as a Professor and Registrar. He earned his Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar in the year 2008. He has more than 24 years of teaching experience in both U.G. and P.G. level. He is a life member of The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). He is actively engaged in research work. He has authored books and has to his credit innumerable publications in reputed International/ Scopus/ SCI indexed journals and in International Conference proceedings. He has edited books published by Springer and IJCA volume as international conference proceedings. He has also authored two book chapters and reviewed a couple of books. His research interests include Queuing Theory, Computational Intelligence, and Cloud Computing.

 

Zdzislaw Polkowski , PhD. is Professor of UJW at Faculty of Technical Sciences and Rector's Representative for International Cooperation and Erasmus+ Program at the Jan Wyzykowski University Polkowice. Since 2019 he is also Adjunct Professor in Department of Business Intelligence in Management, Wroclaw University of Economics and Business, Poland. He is the former dean of the Technical Sciences Faculty during the period 2009 -2012 at UZZM in Lubin. He holds a PhD degree in Computer Science and Management from Wroclaw University of Technology, Post Graduate degree in Microcomputer Systems in Management from University of Economics in Wroclaw and Post Graduate degree IT in Education from Economics University in Katowice. He obtained his Engineering degree in Computer Systems in Industry from Technical University of Zielona Gora. He has published more than 55 papers in journals, 18 conference proceedings, including more than 8 papers in journals indexed in the Web of Science, Scopus, IEEE. He served as a member of Technical Program Committee in many International conferences in Poland, India, China, Iran, Romania and Bulgaria. Till date he has delivered 13 invited talks at different international conferences across various countries. He is also the member of the Board of Studies and expert member of the doctoral research committee in many universities in India. He is also the member of the editorial board of several journals and served as a reviewer in a wide range of international journals. His area of interests includes IT in Business, IoT in Business and Education Technology. He has successfully completed a research project of worth 120000 USD on Developing the innovative methodology of teaching Business Informatics (www.dimbi.pl) funded by the European Commission. He also owns an IT SME consultancy company in Polkowice and Lubin, Poland.
