Acerca del autor: Richard Sandbrook is Professor of Political Science, University of Toronto where he was also Director of the Development Studies Programme (1983-88). Among the many professional positions he has held, he has been President of the Canadian Association of African Studies (1995-96) and has served on the Executive of the Canadian Council of Area Studies Learned Societies (1992-96). He has been on the Editorial Advisory Boards of Labour, Capital and Society (1982-92); the Canadian Journal of African Studies (1984-91); and the Journal of International Development (1988-95).
