In the first part of "Clefi’s Music Notebook 1," aspiring musicians review the fundamentals of music introduced in "Clefi’s Little Notebook," the opening part of the series aimed at the youngest musicians breaking into the world of music. Next, we take a fresh look at the musical alphabet, notes, and rests; broaden our understanding of the third and fourth octaves; learn about the fifth octave; enhance our knowledge of the bass clef; and uncover more interesting facts about accidentals. Following that, our readers will learn about intervals within the major scale and explore how to create scales with sharps. They will also become acquainted with the major fifth chord. Then, we move on to discovering different time signatures, exploring dotted notes and rests, practicing rhythm, and widening their arsenal of notation symbols. The final chapters of the Notebook explain lowered tones, flats, and how to create major scales with flats. As a fun fact from the world of music theory, we share an intriguing story about the mysterious tone “H.” All that exciting knowledge is presented on colored pages accompanied by fun illustrations inspired by the world of music-loving sea creatures.
