629 pages including 24 page index with Pompei excavation details & pull out b/w plan of excavated city.Light brown half leather with marbled boards, bottom 40% of spine leather missing, top remainder is gilt cross-banded & titles, but very rubed away, title barely legible with top spine-ends worn off diagonally. Front outer hinge cracked, corners heavily worn showing card & heavily rubbed. Some surface wear to boards. Slight darkening to end-papers & rear of map. Page-edges a little darkened. Leather missing from bottom rear corner. Despite worn outer appearance, text is very clean & in very nice condition. A sound working/reading copy.
