They simply learn how to wait.
Thirty years after leaving the small Brazilian town of Santa Aurora, Clara Vasconcelos returns for a school reunion carrying a life carefully built far from the place she once called home.
She tells herself she is returning for old friends.
For memories.
For curiosity.
But there is one name she has never truly forgotten.
Miguel Arantes stayed behind.
He built a life of his own, raised a daughter, endured losses, accepted responsibilities, and learned to live with the silence of everything he never said.
When Clara and Miguel see each other again, the years between them do not vanish. They remain exactly where life left them — in unanswered letters, unfinished conversations, painful choices, and a single street that was never crossed.
As long-buried truths begin to surface, both must confront the possibility that what separated them was not the absence of love, but fear, sacrifice, pride, and the terrible consequences of words left unspoken.
Set in a small town where every street seems to remember, THE CITY WHERE TIME WAITED is a tender novel about mature love, memory, forgiveness, and the courage to face the life that might have been — without abandoning the life that was actually lived.
Because not every reunion is a second chance.
Sometimes, it is simply the moment when the truth finally arrives.
