You've bought the "right plant for your zone" and still watched it wither. You've followed the sunlight icons on the label only to wonder why the leaves turned brown. You've looked at your neighbor's lush garden and thought, "What do they know that I don't?"
You're not a bad gardener. You've just been given incomplete information. Most plant tags treat a zone number as a universal permission slip. But your yard has its own secret climate, frost pockets, heat traps, wind tunnels, and shady dry corners that no national map can see.
This book changes that.
I wrote this book because I spent years killing plants that were "supposed" to live. I learned the hard way that climate isn't just a number on a map. It's the way frost lingers in the low spot by the fence. It's the heat bouncing off the driveway. It's the dry shade under the eaves where nothing seems to grow. Once I learned to read those signs, my success rate flipped. I want to help you do the same.
What makes this book different:
Most gardening books hand you a list of plants and wish you luck. This one teaches you to see your own land. You'll learn to map your garden's true microclimates, decode the hidden messages on plant tags, and match plants to the spots where they actually belong, not just where you want them.
Inside, you'll discover:
- Why hardiness zone numbers alone keep letting you down, and the three climate factors that override them every time
- How to spot frost pockets, wind patterns, and heat traps you walk past every day
- Simple ways to map your yard's warm, cool, dry, and wet microclimates
- How to read a plant tag and recognize the promises that nurseries overstate?
- Strategies to match any plant to the right microclimate you've identified
- How heat and humidity change the rules, and which plants handle sticky summers without constant care
- How to build a personal, trusted-plant list that anchors your garden year after year?
- How to walk into a nursery without doubt and walk out with plants you feel good about
- What to do when a well-chosen plant still struggles, and when it's kindest to let it go
- Simple observation habits that sharpen your instincts and help your garden get smarter each season
This book is complete on its own. At the end, you'll find a practical assignment that helps you map your own yard's unseen boundaries and spot three new planting opportunities you never noticed before.
If you're tired of losing plants and ready to work with your climate instead of fighting it, I believe this book can help.

Descripción de la tienda
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free.
