Acerca de los autores: E.B. White, the author of such beloved children's classics as Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, and The Trumpet of the Swan, was born in Mount Vernon, New York. He graduated from Cornell University in 1921 and, five or six years later, joined the staff of The New Yorker magazine. E.B. White authored over seventeen books of prose and poetry and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1973. In addition to writing children's books, E. B. White also wrote books for adults, as well as writing poems and essays, and drawing sketches for The New Yorker magazine. Funnily enough for such a famous writer, he always said that he found writing difficult and bad for one's disposition but he kept at it! Mr White has won countless awards, including the 1971 National Medal for Literature and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal, which commended him for making 'a substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children'. He died on 1 October 1985, and is survived by his son and three grandchildren.

Lewis Carroll (1832–1898) is the author of one of the world's most cherished books for children. Born in Cheshire, England, Lewis was also a mathematician, logician and photographer. His novels, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking Glass are international bestsellers and are loved by people of all ages.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900–1944) was a French writer and aviator. He is best known for his novella The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince). He disappeared on the night of 31 July 1944 while flying on a mission to collect data on German troop movements during the Second World War.

Dick King-Smith served in the Grenadier Guards during the Second World War, and afterwards spent twenty years as a farmer in Gloucestershire, the county of his birth. Many of his stories are inspired by his farming experiences. Later he taught at a village primary school. His first book, The Fox Busters, was published in 1978. He wrote a great number of children's books, including The Sheep-Pig (winner of the Guardian Award and filmed as Babe), Harry's Mad, Noah's Brother, The Hodgeheg, Martin's Mice, Ace, The Cuckoo Child and Harriet's Hare (winner of the Children's Book Award in 1995). At the British Book Awards in 1991 he was voted Children's Author of the Year. In 2009 he was made OBE for services to children's literature. Dick King-Smith died in 2011 at the age of eighty-eight.
