Working with children produces stories-some uplifting, some sad, some poignant, some humorous. In this book, the author shares glimpses into the lives of children who have lingered in her memory. In sharing these moments of connection, she reminds all of us who work with children about the deepest commitments of our calling-to listen closely, to see with empathy, to respond with compassion. From Erdogan's fascination with a Coke machine to Carrie asking for a commitment of love, each of the fourteen children included in this book offer insights well beyond the information provided in textbooks and training manuals. The book offers the gift of stories to readers with the hope that they, too, may remember and share stories about those who have touched their lives. And, it challenges us to remain open to stories that have yet to be told.
