Very good first printing in very good dustwrapper. The book itself is square and tight but there is some gentle age toning to edges of the text block. A few brown patches (light foxing) to the fore edge. The dustwrapper is complete but with dust soiling to the top edge with associated shelfwear. Very gentle fade to the spine panel evident. Still quite a presentable copy. Signed by the author to the title page, without inscription. Please enquire for more details. As a keen collector myself I make every effort to provide a high level of service. Enquiries welcomed. N° de ref. de la librería 005779

Sinopsis: A novel in which a young couple have their child snatched from them and are subsequently driven apart by despair. From the author of THE COMFORT OF STRANGERS, THE CEMENT GARDEN and THE DAYDREAMER.

Críticas: The Child in Time opens with a harrowing event. Stephen Lewis, a successful author of children's books, takes his 3-year-old daughter on a routine Saturday morning trip to the supermarket. While waiting in line, his attention is distracted and his daughter is kidnapped. Just like that. From there, Lewis spirals into bereavement that has effects on his relationship with his wife, his psyche and time itself: "It was a wonder there could be so much movement, so much purpose, all the time. He himself had none." This beautifully haunting book won a 1987 Whitbread Prize.
