Book by Crichton J D

After saying that "the treasures of the Bible" are to be opened up more lavishly for the spiritual nourishment of the people, the "Constitution on the Liturgy" goes on to speak of the homily, "By means of the homily the mysteries of faith and the guiding principles of the Christian life are expounded from the sacred texts during the course of the liturgical year. The homily therefore, is to be highly esteemed as part of the liturgy itself." This book offers liturgical homilies for each Sunday of Ordinary Time throughout the three-year cycle, as well as homilles for certain major feasts. The introductory chapters are a useful aid and should offer encouragement to preachers everywhere. These chapters cover the importance of the Word of God, the nature of the liturgical homily, its preparation and its delivery. The homilies themselves should be a source of inspiration and information both for preaching and for personal reflection.
