Thirty-two years ago, she refused him. This Christmas, he returns-and her entire family is struck from Bath's most coveted guest list.
Mrs. Honoria Pell has commanded The Quill like a frigate for twelve years. She has guarded its reputation, seen eight young women married, and kept the most dangerous secret in Bath: who writes the anonymous Post-Bag.
She is thoroughly accustomed to managing everyone else's affairs.
Her own are another matter.
With the young women gone, the library is far too quiet. Then Sir Rowland Estcourt returns to Bath with an explanation Honoria is not at all sure she wishes to hear.
At sixty-one, he remains elegant, maddening, and the town's idea of a rake. Honoria believes she knows what he has done. She is furious.
She is also finding him rather difficult to dismiss.
Then every member of her family is removed from the subscription book for the Upper Rooms Christmas Ball.
In a single night, Bath's admired household becomes the subject of whispers. Honoria can endure an insult. Being pitied is intolerable.
Rowland suspects the disgrace began thirty-two years ago-and that the fault is his.
As Advent turns to Christmas, The Quill fills again with married daughters, husbands, children, a ward, and enough luggage to defeat a less determined hostess. Amid the reunions and preparations, Honoria must confront the past she thought she had settled.
Accepting Rowland's help means hearing him out. Accepting his courtship means admitting she still wants something for herself.
And a woman who has spent years protecting everyone she loves must decide whether she can bear to let someone care for her.
Ever Yours, with Candour is the ninth and final book in The Ladies of the Lion's Mouth series-a warm, witty Christmas romance of second chances, old letters, and a house full of love.
A clean and wholesome Regency romance with kisses only, no explicit content, no profanity, and a happy ending guaranteed.
