Edited and published by the legendary Alfred Stieglitz from 1903 to 1917, the periodical Camera Work featured some of the era's finest examples of photography and illustration, introducing Americans to Modernism and legitimizing photography as an art form. This volume reproduces chronologically all the photos and other drawings ― except advertisements ― that appeared in the magazine. Includes an extensive historical Introduction and three Indexes.
Acerca del autor: Photographer Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946) was instrumental in the development of modern art in America during the early 20th century. In 1902 he established the Photo-Secession Group, a movement that elevated photography from a routine form of documentation to the realm of fine art. The following year, he founded the periodical Camera Work, a forum for the introduction of new aesthetic theories by artists, critics, and writers.
