CURIOSITY SCIENCE 6

Grade 6 Science Textbook: Twelve Journeys to Discover How the World Works

What if science were not something to memorize—but something to discover?

What if a question could become an experiment? What if a wrong guess could become a better question?

CURIOSITY SCIENCE 6 invites students to experience science as a way of thinking, observing, questioning, testing, and discovering. Students learn to make predictions, test ideas, examine evidence, and change their thinking when evidence demands it.

TWELVE JOURNEYS. ONE CURIOUS MIND.

Students explore:

• The Wonderful World of Science
• Diversity in the Living World
• Mindful Eating: A Path to a Healthy Body
• Exploring Magnets
• Measurement of Length and Motion
• Materials Around Us
• Temperature and its Measurement
• A Journey through States of Water
• Methods of Separation in Everyday Life
• Living Creatures: Exploring their Characteristics
• Nature's Treasures
• Beyond Earth

FROM READING TO DOING

Every journey includes an Innovators Quest. Students predict before testing, record observations, separate observation from inference, examine evidence, and rethink their ideas when evidence disagrees.

Quest Labs turn everyday materials and experiences into scientific investigations using leaves, food, water, magnets, materials, temperature, motion, models, and the sky.

CRITICAL THINKING AT EVERY STEP

The book challenges first impressions:

Is a bat a bird because it flies?

Does one successful test prove an idea forever?

Does something that feels hotter have a higher temperature?

Can a model show planetary order while misleading us about size?

Instead of only asking “What is the answer?”, students learn to ask:

“How can we test it?”

CATCH THE MISCONCEPTION

Misconception Alerts turn common misunderstandings into opportunities to investigate. Students learn that evidence matters, observations differ from inferences, and a result that disproves a guess can still be a successful investigation.

The central habit is simple:

Keep the test. Change the guess.

BUILDING MASTERY

Students encounter:

• AHA moments
• Innovators Quest
• Quest Labs
• Misconception Alerts
• Future Labs
• Key Terms
• Innovator Challenges
• Teach It activities
• Practice questions
• Extended responses
• Mastery Missions
• Master Answer Keys

Future Labs connect science with computers, sensors, satellites, AI, engineering, and other technologies—while emphasizing thoughtful human judgment.

DESIGNED TO BE USED, NOT JUST READ

Students pause, predict, investigate, record observations, explain their thinking, and teach what they understand. Answer keys come after the work, encouraging active learning.

THINK ACROSS. THINK BEYOND.

The final Think across section brings the journeys together, helping students connect ideas, compare evidence, and reason beyond a single chapter.

A SCIENCE TEXTBOOK FOR CURIOUS MINDS

Students move from:

“What is the answer?”

to:

“What do I notice?”
“Why might this happen?”
“How could I test it?”
“What evidence would change my mind?”

The goal is to help students become better questioners, careful observers, thoughtful testers, and confident learners.

Because science is never finished.

There is always another observation.
Another question.
Another test.
Another possibility.

Explore. Question. Test. Discover.
