Young children will enjoy discovering the joys and treasures of a library with Leo, the cartoon lion, as their guide. They will travel in rhyme with him as he tours the children’s room, with its easy-to-read books, a-v materials, story time sessions, resources and child-size furniture. Leo points out and explains fiction, non-fiction books, fables and biographies, displays, dioramas, and the circulation system. Suggestions for reading or telling the story, counting rhymes and easy-to-make lion crafts are included. Virginia Small’s colorful, creative illustrations energize and emphasize the wonders and importance of libraries in a child’s life.
