Descripción del artículo del vendedor

The two volumes are a re-constructed edition that has dispensed with the illustrations and instead added 318 original prints, the subject matter of which corresponds to every page in the book. Each volume has the bookplate of Mysie Craig Robinson (possibly the wife or daughter of William Robinson, Gardener, whose bookplate is also in both volumes). The whole appears to be an artistic endeavour. The books are cloth bound with heavy boards that show some wear and volume one is damp stained on the back cover. The contents are very clean and in excellent good order. The octavo text pages are all laid down on quarto size pages. The prints are a varying collection of copper engravings, steel engravings, aquatints, etchings etc. most of which have been laid down. The majority of the prints are portraits of well known people in the text, with some views and a few maps. Some of the more interesting colour prints include King's Bench Prison and Bartholomew Fair by Rowlandson, printed by Ackermann. Other Ackermann or similar prints include The Crescent Portland Place, The Pantheon, Somerset House Strand, Watch House St Mary Le Bone, St. Paul's Cathedral, The Banqueting House. Other black and white copper or steel engraved views by varying printers include St Mary Le Bone, Devonshire Place, Vauxhall Gardens, Marylebone Gardens, Rome, Dublin, Windsor from the Forest, Cagliari Sardinia, 4 small maps of small sections of London. There is an etching self portrait of Rembrandt, and woodcuts of Matthew Hopkins Witch Finder General, Moll Cut-Purse, Elinour Rummin Ale-Wife of England. (Images on request) Very heavy books so will excede the postage template.…
