Descripción del artículo del vendedor

8vo (7 1/2 x 5 1/2 in). A8 b4 B-Z8 Aa-Bb8 Cc4 2A-2G8: 248 pp. Title-page, tables, Psalms section title, text in two columns; contemporary doodles to initial and terminal blanks in pencil, contemporary ownership inscriptions. Contemporary paneled calf tooled in gilt, spine with raised bands in six gilt-tooled compartments, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Very good; some slight loss to endleaves' outer margins, boards a bit bowed. An attractive copy of this edition of the Book of Common Prayer, from the same publisher who produced the "Vinegar Bible" of 1709. This is the edition with the text in English only; in the same year Baskett issued two other editions, one with parallel translations into French, and another for which John Sturt provided marvelous, ornate engravings. The present copy features several doodles from previous owners, as well as ownership inscriptions (see below). ESTC T82221 PROVENANCE: Thomas Aldersey of Bredgar (ownership inscription to initial blank dated 22 February 1718); Susanna Tyson (ownership inscription to penultimate blank dated 24 December 1749); E.J. [presumably Edward Jeremiah] Curteis (ownership inscription to title); Edwin [.] Charles of Lincoln's Inn Fields (ownership inscription to ffep verso dated 1792).…

Descripción de la tienda

Heavenacid is a bookselling enterprise primarily dedicated to radical ruptures in thought, insurgency, urgency, outsider experience, the undercommons, the avant-garde, histories neglected in the bibliographical record, genuine firsts, and their intersections with the technology of the book and print. Or whatever else we think is good and we come across and know a thing or two about. The phrase “Heavenacid” is Pierre Joris’ translation of Paul Celan’s neologism Himmelssäure.
