She lives in Bakersville, North Carolina. Charles W. Maynard worked as the first executive director of the Friends of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and as the director of advancement at the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough, Tennessee. He has authored or coauthored more than 28 books, including The Appalachians, Going to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and The Rocky Mountains. He lives in Maryville, Tennessee. Cara Modisett is a writer and editor-at-large for Blue Ridge Country magazine. She lives in Roanoke, Virginia. Nye Simmons is a writer and photographer. His previous titles include Best of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains Wonder and Light, Smoky Mountains Photographer&;s Guide, and Tennessee Wonder and Light. He lives in Knoxville, Tennessee.
