Descripción del artículo del vendedor

Blue Fires begins with a perfectly reasonable historical fact: Nazi Germany developed rockets, jet aircraft and advanced weapons at a remarkable pace. It then puts on a heavy coat, lowers its voice and asks whether you have ever wondered what happened to the flying saucers, Antarctic bases and secret technology capable of rewriting the entire history of the post-war world. At this point, sensible readers may fasten their seat belts. Gary Hyland investigates the more mysterious fringes of German wartime research, where documented engineering achievements mingle freely with missing scientists, vanished blueprints, intelligence operations, unidentified aircraft and rumours that refuse to die simply because evidence has failed to encourage them. The result is history viewed through binoculars at night while something unidentified moves behind the shed. The book?s starting point is Roswell. Most theories concerning the famous 1947 incident involve alien visitors, weather balloons or a government official standing in front of a suspiciously large tarpaulin saying there is absolutely nothing to see. Hyland proposes another possibility: that the object may have been connected to revolutionary aircraft designed by German scientists during the Second World War and subsequently absorbed into secret American programmes. There is some solid historical machinery beneath the speculation. Germany really did produce the V-1 flying bomb, the V-2 ballistic missile and operational jet aircraft, while designs for even more extraordinary machines existed on drawing boards. After the war, Operation Paperclip brought German scientists?including rocket specialist Wernher von Braun?to the United States, where yesterday?s enemy technician could become tomorrow?s respectable contributor to the space programme after a modest administrative adjustment to his biography. From there, Blue Fires explores alleged flying discs, experimental propulsion, ?foo fighters,? secret societies, concealed installations and the mysterious Base 211, reputedly hidden in Antarctica. Antarctica has always been popular with conspiracy theorists because it is enormous, remote and inconveniently lacking in neighbours who might complain about the construction noise from a subterranean Nazi saucer hangar. Hyland asks whether certain post-war UFO sightings were not extraterrestrial at all, but glimpses of human technology developed in extreme secrecy. Perhaps visitors from another planet did not cross the galaxy only to hover over an American farm and interfere with the cattle. Perhaps the objects came from somewhere considerably closer, operated by people with government funding, German engineering and an exceptionally strict confidentiality agreement. It is a compelling alternative history of the years after 1945, filled with cover-ups, secret transfers of knowledge and technological trails that disappear precisely when they become most interesting. Documentation leads to testimony, testimony leads to rumour, and rumour occasionally catches a night train to Antarctica wearing a false moustache. Readers must decide for themselves where plausible secrecy ends and the flying crockery begins. The pleasure of the book lies partly in this uncertainty. Read as military history, it examines genuine German technological ambition and the Allied scramble to seize its scientists and research. Read as conspiracy literature, it provides enough hidden bases, unexplained aircraft and missing paperwork to keep the curtains twitching until dawn. Read at bedtime, it may result in an entirely unnecessary inspection of the sky. Blue Fires is ideal for readers interested in Nazi secret weapons, experimental aircraft, UFOs, Roswell, Operation Paperclip and the shadowy borderland where military archives meet men who know a retired engineer whose uncle once saw something peculiar near a runway. It is extensively researched, confidently argued and considerably more exciting than the possibility that every.…
