The Blind Artist is a sweeping, intimate memoir tracing the full arc of Neva Scott’s life—from her childhood in the small Nevada town of Panaca to her late-life emergence as an artist navigating the onset of blindness. Told in a warm, candid, often humorous voice, the book blends personal history, family stories, spiritual moments, travel adventures, and the evolution of a creative life.

Neva Scott is a memoirist, artist, and lifelong storyteller whose work is shaped by a rich tapestry of family history, faith, travel, and creative reinvention. Born and raised in the small Nevada town of Panaca, she grew up surrounded by the textures of rural life, the warmth of a close-knit community, and the early experiences that would later anchor her writing. Her life carried her through Brigham Young University, where she discovered both her independence and her voice, and into a marriage and family life marked by resilience, humor, and deep devotion. Over the decades she reinvented herself repeatedly-magazine writer, realtor, shop owner, gallery founder-before embracing her identity as a visual artist, creating work that reflects both her curiosity and her courage. Even as her eyesight began to fail, she continued to paint "what my eyes see," a declaration that captures her spirit of honesty and determination. Her memoir, The Blind Artist, gathers the full sweep of her life-its joys, losses, adventures, and transformations-told in the unmistakable voice that has always been wholly her own.
