They say the mountain remembers, but men are quick to forget.
For generations, the warnings were written in the soil and whispered through the canopy. The old ones knew the five Thin Places were not places to conquer, but thresholds to honor. They knew that when the land stirred, it was not an invitation, it was a warning.
First came the roads, cutting like open wounds through the hollow. Then came the Ledges, thrusting modern glass and steel over ancient bone. And then came Shepherd’s resort, carving up the ridges for profit and vanity until the mountain finally took him back.
For centuries, Hollow Hill kept its secrets behind the five Thin Places, guarded by those who understood that the land belonged to no man. Mavis Crowder walked the ridges in silence. Megan Rutherford took up the staff when the silence failed. But every paved road, every tree removed, and every desperate search for fame and fortune has pushed the mountain past its endurance.
The Great Quiet is shattered.
In its place comes the shriek from the high pines. The shadow of wings flapping like sails in the dark. The Blood Crows have awakened. Not to negotiate, but to reset the scales with bone and feather.
As the veil thins to a thread, the line between myth and memory disappears. It will take more than a quiet prayer, or offering of blood to survive what moves in the woods tonight. It will take the living medicine wheel, and a sacrifice that will leave Hollow Hill forever changed.
The balance has shifted. The final debt is due. And as the full moon rises over the ridge, those who stand at the threshold must decide if they will seal the gateway... or be swallowed by the dark.
The veil has been lifted. The spirits have returned to claim the Great Quiet.
