Iron, Magnesium and zinc are the most common biodegradable metals that have been discussed here. With an excellent mechanical integrity, adequate biocompatibility, and intrinsic biodegradability, these metals are suitable for implants, and have led to multiple studies on the creation of new alloys for degradable biological applications. The book begins with an introductory chapters to introduce the basics of metals and has three main sections. The first section provides readers with an overview of iron-based metallic biomaterials, unveils the current state of biodegradable metal technology, and discusses its potential applications for bio-implants. The second section discusses a paradigm shift from iron to magnesium-based metallic biomaterials, from material discovery and testing to implant production. This section provides an example of biodegradable metals from idea to application. Biomaterials based on magnesium have the potential to be utilized as next-generation biodegradable metals. Since magnesium (Mg) dissolves in bodily fluids, implanted Mg may deteriorate during the healing process; provided, however, that degradation is regulated, no debris will remain once healing is completed. Therefore, there may be no need for a second surgical procedure (or procedures) to remove the implant. This section demonstrates a thorough analysis that gathers, evaluates, and critically examines the most recent research on the crucial facets of magnesium-based biomaterials. This book is expected to be a fundamental resource for research in biodegradable metallic materials, fabrication of implants, tissue engineering, and biomedical engineering. A viewpoint on the application of biodegradable metals for biomedical purposes in the tissue engineering age closes the book.…

Acerca del autor
Dr. Anurag Dixit is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at G.B. Pant DSEU Campus, New Delhi (Formerly: G.B. Pant Govt. Engineering College, New Delhi). He has more than a decade of teaching and research experience. His research interests are primarily in the areas of Biomaterials, Finite Element Analysis of Textile Composites, Large Deformation of Metals and Composites at low, medium, and high rates of Loading. His research finds application in design for safety in defence applications, aerospace, mobility, marine industries, and in the design of metal forming processes. Dr. Dixit has published more than 25 Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Journal research articles in various international journals. He has been granted a research project in the capacity of Co-Principal Investigator, funded by DRDO, Govt. of India. He also serves as the series editor for the Springer book series Biomedical Materials for Multifunctional Applications.
Dr. Anil Kumar is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at G.B. Pant DSEU Campus, New Delhi (Formerly: G.B. Pant Govt. Engineering College, New Delhi). He has over 16 years of teaching experience. Prior to joining DSEU, he worked with Hindustan Everest Tools Limited as Production Officer. His area of research is Production and Industrial Engineering and Composite Materials. He has published about 20 research papers and chapters in various SCI/Scopus Indexed Journal/books/conferences. Dr. Kumar has completed various short term courses and workshops in different training institutes of India in the field of engineering education. He is also a lifetime Member of the Robotics Society of India.
Dr. Dayanidhi K. Pathak is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at G.B. Pant DSEU Campus, New Delhi (Formerly: G.B. Pant Govt. Engineering College, New Delhi). His research interests include Additive Manufacturing, Biomaterials, Biodegradable Metals, Degradation of Biomaterials, Next Generation Bioimplants, Conventional and Unconventional Machining Processes, and Powder Metallurgy. His research finds application in the biomedical field, viz. metal based implants, scaffolds, and surgical devices. He has more than sixteen years of teaching experience. He has published a number of articles in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journals. Dr. Pathak is the recipient of the Gold Medal during M.Tech. He is the series editor for the Springer book series Biomedical Materials for Multifunctional Applications. Dr. Pathak is a member of the Robotics Society of India and SAE India.

Si es un consumidor, puede rescindir el contrato de acuerdo con lo siguiente. Por consumidor se entiende cualquier persona física que actúe con fines ajenos a su actividad comercial, empresarial, oficio o profesión.

Derecho legal de desistimiento
Tiene derecho a rescindir este contrato en un plazo de 14 días sin dar ningún motivo.
El periodo de desistimiento vencerá a los 14 días desde que usted, o un tercero que no sea el transportista e indicado por usted, adquiera la posesión física del último bien o del último lote o pieza.
Para ejercer el derecho de desistimiento, complete de forma electrónica y envíe una declaración clara en nuestro sitio web, desde "Mis compras" en "Mi cuenta". Le enviaremos sin demora un acuse de recibo de dicho desistimiento a través de un soporte duradero (por ejemplo, por correo electrónico).
Para cumplir con el plazo de desistimiento, basta con que envíe su comunicación relativa al ejercicio del derecho de desistimiento antes de que venza el periodo de desistimiento.
Efectos del desistimiento
Si rescinde este contrato, le reembolsaremos todos los pagos que hayamos recibido de usted, incluidos los gastos de envío (excepto los gastos adicionales que surjan si elige un tipo de envío que no sea el tipo de envío estándar más económico que ofrecemos).
Podemos hacer una deducción del reembolso por la pérdida de valor de cualquier bien suministrado, si la pérdida es el resultado de una manipulación innecesaria por su parte.
Efectuaremos el reembolso sin demoras indebidas y, a más tardar, 14 días después de que se nos informe de su decisión de rescindir este contrato.
Efectuaremos el reembolso utilizando el mismo medio de pago que utilizó para la transacción inicial, a menos que haya acordado expresamente lo contrario; en cualquier caso, no incurrirá en ningún cargo como resultado de dicho reembolso.
Podremos retener el reembolso hasta que hayamos recibido los bienes o hasta que nos haya presentado una prueba de que los ha devuelto, lo que ocurra primero.
Deberá devolver los bienes o entregarlos a AHA-BUCH GmbH, Einbeck, Germany, sin demoras indebidas y, en cualquier caso, en un plazo máximo de 14 días a partir del día en que nos comunique su desistimiento del presente contrato. El plazo se cumple si devuelve la mercancía antes de que venza el periodo de 14 días. Tendrá que asumir los gastos directos de devolución de los bienes. Usted solo es responsable de la disminución del valor de los bienes como resultado de una manipulación distinta a la necesaria para establecer la naturaleza, las características y el funcionamiento de los bienes.
Excepciones al derecho de desistimiento
El derecho de desistimiento no se aplica a lo siguiente:
- La entrega de periódicos, diarios o revistas, con la excepción de los contratos de suscripción; y
- El suministro de contenido digital que no se proporcione en un soporte tangible (por ejemplo, en un CD o DVD) si, al hacer el pedido, aceptó que podíamos empezar a entregarlo y que no podría desistir una vez iniciada la entrega.
