Descripción del artículo del vendedor

This book narrates the story of the transformation of Satpura Tiger Reserve from a landscape under ecological stress and human pressure into a revived wildlife habitat and a model of humane rehabilitation. The book takes one through author’s childhood memories of Satpura, stories of tigers, dense forests, sacred sites and village life, a phase of the decline of wildlife and ecological balance and the personal search that led to the discovery of the larger story of the revival of Satpura. One of the important pillars of the narrative is Ramesh Pratap Singh, known as RP Singh, whose leadership shaped the voluntary relocation of villages from the core and buffer areas of Satpura. His approach was based on dialogue not on coercion, empathy, trust and repeated engagement with villagers. He treated relocation as rehabilitation, not eviction. Villagers were offered land, cash compensation, freedom to build their own houses, support in buying land, access to schools, roads, health services, drinking water, electricity, livelihood opportunities and social security. He treated villagers as his own. The book highlights several villages such as Dhaain, Kankri, Churna, Bori, Khakrapura, Malini, Sonpur and others to show how relocation changed lives. Many families who once lived in isolation, with poor health care, difficult access to markets, crop damage from wild animals and limited education, later built concrete homes, cultivated land, bought tractors and vehicles, opened shops, joined tourism, and sent children to school and college. Kankri is presented as an example of cleanliness, dignity and planned rural development. The role of women, Gram Sabha consent, State government, District Administration, Forest Officers, and Senior Government Officials is emphasised. The book depicts the emotional cost of displacement. It records the pain of leaving ancestral homes, temples, fields, village gods, fairs and memories. The story of Pune Singh, who chose to remain in the forest, raises questions about freedom, isolation, rights and belonging. The book acknowledges that relocation was not perfect everywhere and that satisfaction depended on whether families received usable land, livelihood support and respectful follow-up. It presents the significance of the ecological outcome. Vacated village lands became wildlife habitat, reducing human-wildlife conflict and allowing tigers, leopards, bears, otters, skimmers, wolves, Barasingha and other animals to thrive, and rare plants to return. Tourism and safaris created new local livelihoods while keeping most of the forest undisturbed. The book presents the “Satpura Model” as a case study in conservation with compassion — where forests revived because people were treated with dignity, choice and trust. …
