Three volumes, in slip case. First editions thus. Format, octavo, 169mm. Physical description, vii, 271[14]; 320 [14]: 288 [14]. All edges gilt. Contents clean bright and tight. Half green cloth elegantly decorated in gilt, over light green and gilt patterned cloth backed boards, the forecorners matching the gilt floral patterns on the spine wihich is lettered gilt. Endpapers with the same decorations as the covers. The sloping cardboard slip case, which has been sometime beenrepaired, is covered with the same paper as the covers and endpapers. Overall, a fine set of three volumes housed in the original slip case. This set is probably in the Scott Publishing, Camelot Classics, Scott Library Series, 1886 - 1907, however, the bibliography is not clear. Oliver Wendell Holmes Oliver Wendell ( 1809 ? 1894), was an American physician, poet, born in the USA.He was regarded by his contempories as one of the most gifted writers of the period.
