They arrive alive. They always leave dead.
But first, they give me their confessions.
What does a killer admit when the police, lawyers, reporters, and cameras are gone?
My name is Jack Steen. I work nights on the death ward at an asylum for the criminally insane, where I’m often the last face my patients see before they die.
They call me the Angel of Death. I know them as mass murderers, rapists, serial killers, and worse.
When a dying patient arrives on my floor, I offer a deal. Give me the real confession—the motive, victim, or detail they deliberately kept from everyone else—and I’ll make the end less painful.
There is one problem. These killers have spent their lives lying, manipulating, and convincing people to believe them. I may be the final person they ever play.
Now they might be playing with you too.
Inside this book are four deathbed confessions:
- One patient has an unusual appetite.
- One was the Ken to his Barbie, and he would do anything to keep her happy.
- One was a nanny, but not the kind you would ever want watching your children.
- The last may be the sweetest soul you’ll ever meet, but her confession could be the hardest one to read.
If you’re fascinated by true-crime documentaries, serial-killer psychology, and the secrets murderers take to the grave, pull up a chair beside Jack’s patients and decide for yourself which confessions deserve to be believed.
CONTENT WARNING: This fictional collection contains strong language, violence, and disturbing subject matter.
