Paperback. Asha has spent seventeen years being prepared. Trained, shaped, and told she is chosen - the one who will face the darkness and end it. She has the mark. She has the power. She has believed, because she was given no reason not to, that the story of her life was already written. Then she finds the chamber no one has opened in two centuries. And the line of the prophecy that everyone knew about and chose not to tell her: the one who will end the darkness is also the one who made it.What follows is not a battle. It is a reckoning - with herself, with the people who shaped her, with the nature of inherited darkness and what it actually means to face something that lives inside you rather than outside. Asha does not destroy the darkness. She understands it completely. She claims it. She turns grief that has been consuming everything it touched for centuries into something that can finally be held. And then she goes back to the prophecy chamber and carves her own ending onto the wall.A powerful, psychologically rich dark fantasy for readers aged 13-16 who are ready for a story that takes them completely seriously - about power, consent, self-knowledge, and the difference between being chosen and choosing yourself.
And the line of the prophecy that everyone knew about and chose not to tell her: the one who will end the darkness is also the one who made it.
What follows is not a battle.
And then she goes back to the prophecy chamber and carves her own ending onto the wall.
A powerful, psychologically rich dark fantasy for readers aged 13-16 who are ready for a story that takes them completely seriously - about power, consent, self-knowledge, and the difference between being chosen and choosing yourself.
