Hardcover. The war is over. The hardest part is what you pay for victory. The Three are reaching through the cracks in the seal and they've stopped attacking minds. They're erasing them. One by one, the people who embody everything the Three's philosophy denies are being quietly overwritten: a scientist who loved her work, a checkpoint keeper who chose the border, neighbors who can no longer be trusted to be themselves. Then they come for Ezra.Mid-flight, mid-sentence, Ash watches her mother vanish from her own eyes, replaced by a competent, professional stranger who calls her the girl with the unusual wings. The dragon remains. The leader remains. The mother is gone.To get her back, Ash must descend into the deep structure where the Three exist as one mind, find the woman buried at its center, and offer her something the link cannot: the experience of being two things at once without dissolving. A scholar who has hidden for decades must finally cut. A sister must hold the anchor. And Ash must reach a prisoner of four centuries with nothing but the memory of Tuesday morning, flour on a table, and her mother's hands. The severing will save the world. It will not return what was taken. The Hallowing is a story about the architecture of love that lives deeper than memory-and the stubborn, body-deep insistence that some things cannot be erased.
Then they come for Ezra.
Mid-flight, mid-sentence, Ash watches her mother vanish from her own eyes, replaced by a competent, professional stranger who calls her the girl with the unusual wings. The dragon remains. The leader remains. The mother is gone.
To get her back, Ash must descend into the deep structure where the Three exist as one mind, find the woman buried at its center, and offer her something the link cannot: the experience of being two things at once without dissolving.
