A frozen empire driven by iron. A dying valley bound by silk.
For thirty years, the High Palace ruled the northern ridge by force and fire. Its engineers hollowed out the stone, choking the mountain's breathing with monumental coal-fired kilns and driving massive iron pins deep into the bedrock to capture its thermal current. To the industrial technocracy, the wilderness was simply a engine to be fuelled, and the exiles living in the sulphur-choked sump pits were entirely expendable.
But the machine is running out of grease.
As a catastrophic vacuum failure vitrifies the lower refineries and a sub-zero horizontal gale threatens to freeze the remaining inner keep, Grand Master Malakor leads a desperate, iron-clad vanguard to seize the high gatehouse. If he can shatter the frontier’s natural anchors, the empire might survive the night—even if it turns the rest of the basin to ash.
Standing against the imperial wedge is Lyra, a weaver whose hands are permanently stained by the pale violet glare of zinc-infused silk, and Thorne, a tactical scout who fights not with iron, but with the fluid geometry of the stone. To save the cradle, they must execute a radical blueprint: abandon the rigid cages of the old world, clear the ancient limestone siphons, and stitch the very survival of four thousand souls directly into the quartz spine of a transformed hybrid knight.
As the lines of the First Loom tighten around the threshold, the frontier will no longer be mastered or mined. It will be anchored.
