A stolen artifact. A reluctant thief. An heir without hope.

Would you risk your future to protect the past?

Lara did and now she's regretting it.

She didn't mean to steal the artifacts, but her reasons were good. That's little comfort as she treks them across the world and hides them beneath her aunt's stairs.

What's so important about a diary and an old piece of jewellery?

And who is the rightful owner?

Word gets around there's an archivist in town and the museum seeks her help. Its latest discovery involves a local church and a shameful history. They want her help, but she's sworn to secrecy. As Lara translates the diaries of a terrified priest, she’s forced to face the reality of one man’s inhumanity towards another. Given the weight of the knowledge she carries, it might prove one burden too many.

Then there's the guy next door. Brooding, rude and arrogant, he's the world's worst neighbour. He’s also tied to the place Lara fled and she mustn’t reveal her past to him for fear of discovery. They're hardly star-crossed lovers, but there's no doubt their fates are aligned.

It’s such a pity they hate each other, and a romance between them would never work.
