Neuware - The anxiety of the human condition, which Soren Kierkegaard prefers to call 'anguish', does not discriminate. And in our search for relief, we exploit our resources, exceed our limits, build our own towers of Babel, and try to defend our fragile personal (and national) borders. But despite so many efforts, the distressing human situation does not seem to improve.Could it be that every religion in the world, similar to everything strictly secular or non-religious (including political, economic, educational, ideological, and philosophical theories), at the end of the day are only the 2 sides of the same coin of the insatiable and failed human effort to attain true peace and security In the first (religion), by trying harder to be good. And in the second (secular or non-religious), by trying harder to be enough. But it seems that trying harder is not working. And so, surrounded by problems, injustices, and needs, not to mention the shame that we all try to hide, we live defensively, exploiting ourselves and each other, and hopelessly busy. The anxiety of the human condition—what Søren Kierkegaard called anguish—does not discriminate. In our search for relief, we exhaust our resources, push beyond our limits, build our own towers of Babel, and struggle to protect our fragile personal—and even national—boundaries. Yet despite all our efforts, the human condition remains as troubled as ever.
Could it be that the world’s religions, together with everything secular or nonreligious—including technology, entertainment, and our political, economic, educational, ideological, and philosophical systems—are ultimately just two sides of the same coin: humanity’s relentless but futile attempt to find lasting peace and security? In one case (religion), we try harder to be good. In the other (the secular or nonreligious), we try harder to be enough.
But trying harder isn’t working. Surrounded by suffering, injustice, and unmet needs—not to mention the shame we all try to hide—we live defensively, exploiting ourselves and one another while remaining endlessly burdened and restless. What else should we expect from frightened people desperately trying to save themselves?
But what if there is another way to be human—one unknown to both religion and irreligion?
Dr. Javier Gómez believes there is. In this first book, he invites readers to rethink life itself in light of a surprising reality. If that reality is true, then we can learn once again what it truly means to be human. After all, the path that leads to life is one we never could have imagined on our own. And that’s good news for everyone.
With honesty, biblical depth, and a fresh vision of the Gospel, There’s Another Way invites readers to discover that Jesus did not come merely to make better people, but to show us what it truly means to be human. More than a book to inform, it is an invitation to experience a life marked by the peace, freedom, and hope that only the Kingdom of God can offer.
