A scarce third edition of Salter's guide to angling, abridged for younger users. The third edition of Salter's abridged guide to angling, rebacked with the original pictorial paper laid down to the spine and boards. Bookplate to the front paste down. 25 woodcuts and engravings. Collated complete. This abridged version of the Angler's Guide was first published in 1816, and advertised as being a complete practical treatise for young anglers. Salter provides advice on equipment and different types of fish, and rules and observations of the laws of angling. A popular text, this guide went through five editions by 1841. Rebacked, with the original pictorial paper laid down to the spine and boards. Externally smart though discoloured, with some rubbing to the boards, spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages fairly clean with scattered spots. Small loss to pages 49/50, not affecting the text. Good.
