One of 101 titles in the St. Joseph Picture Book Series, this book by popular author Rev. Lawrence G. Lovasik, S.V.D. provides children with simple explanations of Angels and where they are present in the Bible. Angels are special beings created by God to be His messengers and our helpers. In the Bible, we learn that angels are powerful, pure spirits who love and serve God. Unlike humans, they do not have physical bodies, but they have minds and wills, and they can travel anywhere to do God's work.
Angels help carry out God's plans and protect us because they care for us deeply.
One of the main roles of angels is to deliver messages from God. In fact, the word "angel" means "messenger." For example, in the New Testament, the angel Gabriel appears to Mary to announce that she will be the mother of Jesus. Gabriel also visits Joseph in a dream to guide him on protecting Mary and Jesus. These are just a few examples showing how angels connect us to God's love and plans.
Angels also serve as our protectors. Guardian angels are special angels given to each one of us by God to watch over us and guide us toward good choices. Even though we cannot see them, our guardian angels stay close to us, protecting us from harm and helping us to stay on the right path. We can pray to our guardian angels and thank them for their love and protection.
Angels worship God in Heaven, and they encourage us to honor and love God, too. They set an example of obedience and faithfulness to God. When we are feeling scared, lonely, or tempted, we can remember that our guardian angels are with us, helping and encouraging us to stay strong.
Angels remind us that God's love is always near. They are a beautiful sign of God's care for us and His desire to be close to us, guiding us through every moment.
