Fans of Indiana Jones, Stargate, and Edgar Rice Burroughs will enjoy Ancient Civilizations the most. However, the fast-paced action, unexpected twists, and great cast of characters should appeal to everyone. With this first book in the Lamentations and Magic series, the author has also set the scene for what promises to be a riveting saga. - Manybooks Editorial Review
Stargate meets the Mummy in a compelling and intricately detailed historical fiction/sci-fi hybrid. Loved it! - Reedsy Discover
"This book has lots to celebrate. The convergence of history, science fiction, and fantasy comes together nicely in Ancient Civilizations - it is multi-layered without being confusing. There is lots of interesting discourse on nineteenth century events, from the morality of empire to brief commentary on the American Civil War. The best part about this book is the characters. Ben and Louisa are complex and filled with troubled pasts, yet have very grounded outlooks on life..." - Amazon Reviewer
"A love affair with history, adventure, and magic. The pace and creativity never stops." - Amazon Reviewer
History is but a shadow of the truth.
Louisa, a jaded thief, is drawn into a cryptic quest by an ancient papyrus when the stolen letter hints at an unimaginable revelation.
Archaeologist Dr. Benjamin McGehee is facing new beginnings. Consumed with preparing for his first Egyptian excavation and raising Abu, a recently orphaned teenager, Ben finds his world forever changed when he partners with the enigmatic Louisa Sophia.
As elusive forces oppose their every move, Ben and Louisa, joined by cavalrymen from the 13th Bengal Lancers, discover the impossible—a mystical artifact propelling them into the fabled Field of Reeds from Egyptian lore.
Amidst a war-torn world, they confront a reality where magic coexists alongside alien races and descendants from many of Earth's ancient civilizations.
Join the odyssey, as Louisa, Ben, and Abu fight to survive while trying to unlock the secrets of a vanished alien race and find a way home before the time of Lamentations begins.
