Hopkinson Smith, D.G. Mitchell, T. W. Higginson, John K. Bangs, Ernest Seton-Thompson (New York studio). Green cloth spine and corner-pieces, with gilt titling & design on the spine, marbled paper over boards with gilt design on the front cover, top-edge gilt. The spine ends, cover corners & edges show light wear, ink spot to the fore-edge. Early owner's name in ink on the halftitle: E.F. Strickland Benton Harbor Michigan Milwaukee Aug. 1924. This copy contains four items that have been pasted or bound in at the articles about the authors: John Burroughs (ALS; p. 3); Edmund Clarence Stedman (Autograph poem, signed, p. 159; George Edward Woodbury (typed letter to Cleveland, Ohio based book collector, Paul Lemperly, with Lemperly's printed "Woodbury wants" slip bound in at p. 223); Ernest Seton-Thompson (his signature on a card, with a "pawprint", p. Dear Sir:- You can obtain the "Verses from the Advocate" at the University Book-Store at Cambridge, I think; the other volumes are probably inaccesible. "The North Shore Watch" is much sought for, but never found. The Players Elegy is in two forms-my own issue of 35 copies, and the Players Club issue of 1000 copies, I believe. The latter has been sold for fifteen dollars, but was issued only to members, free of cost, originally. You have a remarkable list of my little waifs, and I am pleased that you care to obtain them.
