Paperback. Don't start this book if you're looking for a perfect hero. You won't find a chosen one here, nor a savior anointed by prophecies of light. Alex Reidfield is just an eleven-year-old boy who one day comes home and discovers that the world, as he knew it, has gone up in flames. His parents lie on the floor with a frozen smile on their faces. His little sister is about to disappear. His friend, the one with the braids and bright eyes, has been devoured by the shadow now breathing on the news. This is a journey that begins with blood on your hands and one question nailed to your chest: what does a child do when no one else is going to fight for him?The answer, here, isn't pretty. It's a fist against the ground. It's a tight latex suit and a promise of revenge that rots before it blooms. It's a genius friend with a basement full of gadgets and another friend who wore red headphones before everything went up in flames. It's dragons that spit truths in exchange for a piece of roasted deer. It's a maze that feeds on your nightmares and gives you back the faces of those you've lost. The Path of the Serpent isn't a story about how to save the world. It's a story about how not to die trying. About how rage can become a shield, and how loyalty grows sharper than any sword. Now close your eyes. Feel the chill on the back of your neck. Hear the roar coming from the darkness. When you open them, you'll already be walking. The Editors This item is printed on demand.
