The year is 1800, and England is not a kind place for a woman on the brink of ruin. For Alexandrina Goodward, escape can only mean subterfuge. She takes the persona of Lilly Green and vanishes into the countryside, with the help of her supposed aunt, Mrs. Green, and her occasionally ditzy brother.

But the deception, and the risk, rises to another level when Alex is forced to take on a new persona in order to keep her new household running. She becomes Alex Goodward, a well-read and scholarly man, with the help of Mrs. Green, a new set of clothes, and an old wig. It's more than a disguise; HE is Alex, as much as SHE is Lilly.

Alex keeps up the ruse out of necessity, knowing that the past still looms over them all. Her name has been written into a ledger of secrets, one that could end her life and ruin all of England. As Lilly Green, she is defenseless. As Alex Goodward, he can join a magical coterie of men dedicated to finding the ledger and keeping its secrets out of the wrong hands.

Chasing the ledger will lead her into the halls of Cambridge, into the underbelly of London, and into the arms of a Russian prince. But Alex Goodward, whether a man or a woman, is a rare breed, and he's more than ready for the task of defending the Crown.

ALEX GOODWARD AND THE SECRET LEDGER is the first adventure of a gender-fluid spy in Regency England, where the bounds of male and female are blurred in order to protect the innocent.

Mab Morris lives in Dahlonega, Georgia, with a number of cats and a Celtic labyrinth of her own design. Her storytelling and her love of fantasy began at a very young age, where she was drawn to Ursula K. Le Guin and J.R.R. Tolkien. Mythology, history, and folklore are her passion.

She writes mystical fantasy books set in the past, present and future of the world of Ihyel, where demi-gods and mortals alike struggle with their fate. She also writes the murder-mysteries of The Bone Reader, about Cemirowl who speaks with the dead, and the Regency adventures of gender-fluid spy Alex Goodward.
