A single phone call after midnight will change everything.
At 12:19 a.m., architect and designer Avery Sloan receives a call that shouldn't exist.
A woman's voice. Cold. Elegant. Precise.
Her employer has chosen Avery for a private commission.
The employer's name?
Dominic Varela.
The reclusive billionaire whose glass-and-steel fortress overlooking the Pacific has become legend along the California coast.
Within an hour, Avery finds herself driving through fog-drenched cliffs toward a property most people will never see... and stepping into a world where power, wealth, and control operate by very different rules.
The offer Dominic makes could transform Avery's struggling design firm overnight.
But the commission comes with conditions.
Strict ones.
Dominic Varela doesn't negotiate.
He doesn't explain himself.
And he never invites anyone into his world unless he already knows exactly what he wants.
Inside the breathtaking oceanfront estate-a masterpiece of glass walls, midnight balconies, and private rooms designed for secrets-Avery quickly realizes the house is more than architecture.
It's a carefully controlled empire.
Every room reflects Dominic's obsession with precision.
Every hallway hides conversations that were never meant to be overheard.
And every midnight meeting pulls Avery deeper into a relationship that is far more complicated than a simple business arrangement.
Because Dominic Varela is not the kind of man who lets people walk away easily.
He's brilliant.
Calculated.
Dangerously magnetic.
And he watches Avery with an intensity that makes it impossible to forget she's standing inside his world now.
What begins as a professional commission soon becomes something far more intoxicating.
Late-night design meetings turn into conversations that stretch into the early morning hours.
Professional boundaries blur.
The attraction between them becomes impossible to ignore.
But Dominic is a man surrounded by power, rivals, and carefully guarded secrets-and the closer Avery gets to him, the more she begins to realize the truth:
She wasn't chosen for this project by accident.
Someone wanted her here.
Inside the house.
Inside Dominic's world.
And if Avery isn't careful, the project that could save her career might also destroy everything she thought she understood about ambition, desire, and trust.
Because some doors-once opened after midnight-can never be closed again.
And some people never sleep... until they get exactly what they want.
After Midnight: The Mistress Never Sleeps is a seductive contemporary billionaire romance filled with luxury estates, dangerous attraction, and high-stakes secrets hidden behind glass walls overlooking the Pacific.
