'The Adventures of Miss Wiseman' tells the untold story of Frances 'Fanny' Jane Wiseman, a pioneering Australian actress. She was born in England in 1846, and in 1854, when she was seven years old, her family emigrated to Australia. What followed was a life of adventure and a dazzling career on stage. Her first theatrical performance was in Melbourne, Victoria, when she was eight years old, and her last was in 1925 when she was 79. She toured through the goldfields of colonial Australia, and the glittering theatres of India, New Zealand and England. She played an influential role in developing Australia's theatre industry. Throughout her personal and professional life, she challenged the socio-cultural context of the 19th and 20th centuries and was a role model for female equality. Fanny Wiseman fell in love, raised a large family and navigated personal tragedies. She was fiercely independent and devoted to her profession and her family.
