Here's something I didn't know: a 12th printing of a book published some twenty years after the first edition can be identified as a First Edition. Also a 19th printing. The things you learn. All sarcasm aside, my book is also not the first edition, that is the first printing. However, it is a stated 'Second Printing, March 1934' and that will make it the earliest edition of the book for sale on the Internet (no actual first editions are for sale). I think the first edition was published in 1933. I'm not sure how many printings have been published as of this date. I see one seller with a 38th printing that was published in 1994 . So a Second Printing is a pretty rare thing, and once listed it will be the Only second printing for sale on the Internet. The book was previously owned by the actor Norman Rose. I bought a number of his books some years ago in the town of Nyack, N.Y. However, he did not write his name in this book. Here is a little bit about him anyway: 'Nicknamed 'The Voice of God' by colleagues because of his deep, recognizable voice, Rose was often cast as something akin to God; conversely, he was the voice of 'Death' in Woody Allen's 1975 comedy Love and Death. Rose's other film work includes Woody Allen's Radio Days and the narration for director Kinji Fukasaku's Message from Space, narrating the English dub of the 1968 Soviet Union production of War and Peace and Ishirō Honda's Destroy All Monsters, as well as a newsreel announcer in Mike Nichols' Biloxi Blues. On screen he was seen in The Joe Louis Story (1953),The Violators (1957), Jump (1971), Sidney Lumet's The Anderson Tapes (1971), Who Killed Mary What's Her Name? (1971) and Martin Ritt's The Front (1976) (also starring Woody Allen). He also narrated the 1989 film documentary How Hitler Lost the War, which was produced by David Hoffman. Rose was the off-screen narrator for the telecast of Mikhail Baryshnikov's production of the ballet The Nutcracker (1977), a production that has been repeated many times on television.' So this is where it all began for Norman Rose (who was born in 1917), or one might imagine so. The covers are in a decent enough shape, taking into account their age. There is a thin bit of white soiling on the rear cover. The spine is toned. There is a little wear at the top and bottom edges of the spine. The cover edges look pretty good, a thin bit of soiling on the front middle one, no rubbing on any of them. There is a fairly small spot of rub-through at each of the four corners. The binding of the book is decent. I found two instances of a thin space between facing pages. All four of these pages are solidly bound from top to bottom. There is a thin strip of paper attached to the juncture between the front inside cover and the front end paper. I'm guessing that there was a space there and someone closed that up with this strip of paper. The front cover has a slight bit of give when you pull on it, but is solidly bound. Same thing for the rear cover. The juncture between the rear cover and the rear end paper looks very good. The pages are in very nice condition. Scrolling through, I'm not seeing any conspicuous soiling. I believe there are a few very light spots. I've seen a light crease here and there, not many. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And no writing of any kind.…

Descripción de la tienda

Many of the books I will be selling can accurately be described as ranging from somewhat rare to very rare. In some cases there won't be another copy for sale anywhere on the Internet. There doesn't seem much point, for you or me, in offering something that so many others are already offering. Subject matter will range very widely, creating the possibility for people with very different interests to find something that excites them. As regards pricing, my primary goal is to sell the book. Most often I would expect my book to be the least expensive option on the Internet taking into account an appropriate comparison(what is the condition, is the dust jacket present, is the book signed, is it a first printing, etc.). More important than selling the book I want to make sure that you know, as much as is possible, exactly what you are getting. To that end, you'll notice that my descriptions of condition tend to be lengthy, and that there will always be photographs to help you draw your own conclusions. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about a given book. As regards international shipping, the first class or standard rates I charge are based on a package weight between 2 and 3 pounds. If the book is on the thin side there is a possibility that I can securely pack it up under 2 pounds in weight. If so, the shipping price will drop by around $11.00 or $12.00 to $26.00-27.00. Canada, which is less expensive drops to $18.00. You can contact me before purchasing a book for an estimate on the shipping cost. If you buy the book and it weighs in below 2 pounds you'll get a Reduced Shipping message and amount with the invoice and you'll see the lowered final cost before you make your payment.…
