9 parts, complete. 27 leaves of text [3 per part], printed recto only. "Seattle and Alaska; Seattle and its Environs" signed W.C. Bayles; "Alaska" signed Thomas S. Nowell. The photographs were taken by Frank H. Nowell, W. P. Romans, Asahel Curtis, Thomas W. Tolman & Wylie T. Dennison. Intratextual photographic image p. 1. 114 captioned b/w images on 80 plates [9 per part, except 8, with 8, complete], each plate with tissue guard. The gravures are printed in sepia, blue or green tints, which are all crisp & clear. Folio. 14" x 11" "Contains fine plates of scenery in Seattle and Alaska." [Soliday]. The photogravures capture the early 20th C. people, scenery, lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest & Alaska, much of which is vanishing, or has vanished, in the face of incessant pressures from civilization & 'progress'. Very minor wear. Part 2 with unobtrusive faint edvidence of damping to bottom edge. All-in-all, a VG+ to Nr Fine set. Textured maroon paper wrappers, with maroon cloth spine.
