Quantum physics for kids
What is everything made of? This book answers that question. An easy-to-read introduction to atomic structure, fundamental forces, the periodic table of elements, molecular bonding, the standard model, and quantum field theory. This book starts with the familiar, gradually carries students into the quantum world, and invites them to pursue unanswered questions, such as string theory and dark matter. Supports several Next Generation Science Standards at the middle school and high school level. Great for students, as well as adults who don't have time to study quantum mechanics.

Maridee graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, then received her Juris Doctor, and practiced law until the family business of teaching beckoned. At an age when most people retire, Maridee obtained a multiple-subject teaching credential and a Master's degree in STEM Education. In addition to her teaching job, she ran after-school STEM clubs in science, engineering, coding, and robotics, coached many science fair winners, wrote science musicals, and produced popular STEAM Nights. Quantum physics and atomic structure have been lifelong interests, and she followed their development closely. "When CERN announced the discovery of the Higgs boson, I was one of the nerds who stayed up into the wee hours watching the data release too excited to sleep."
