This historically accurate, nonfiction book tells the dramatic story of the battles of Lexington and Concord, where America’s fight for independence began. Rich in historical detail and brought to life with original illustrations, it offers readers a vivid look at the courage and uncertainty of that fateful day.
On the morning of April 19, 1775, hundreds of British soldiers marched from Boston toward the towns of Lexington and Concord. Waiting for them was a small group of local militia determined to defend their homes and liberties.
When the two sides faced each other on the Lexington Green, a single shot set off a chain of events that would change history forever.
Written for readers ages 9 to adults, this engaging installment in the 15-Minute History Series makes the opening chapter of the American Revolution accessible, memorable, and inspiring.
