A companion for walking through Moving On chapter by chapter, in community.
This 9-chapter Small Group Study Guide follows the full arc of Paul T. Barham's Moving On: The Journey Beyond Shame to Live in Righteousness — from the settled fact of forgiveness through the daily work of living free from shame.
Organized into the same three sections as the book itself:
Section I: Profits from Salvation — what actually changed at salvation: sins forgiven and forgotten, a transformed identity with a specific set of new titles in Christ, and the guarantee that salvation cannot be lost.
Section II: The Battle for Our Mind — living in the hope Scripture actually promises, recognizing Satan's real but already-defeated opposition, and the ongoing tension between flesh and Spirit.
Section III: Therapies and Solutions — practical ground: winning the battle in your mind, handling the external pressures and relationships that keep shame alive, and moving forward into everyday freedom.
Every chapter follows the same rhythm: a Key Points section reviewing the chapter's core ideas, ten discussion questions written to open honest conversation rather than invite one-word answers, and a Personal Application section with space to name one concrete change and revisit it at the next session.
This is a write-in guide, not a workbook to read passively. Every discussion page includes ruled space for notes and answers. Facilitator notes throughout flag chapters that touch on sensitive ground — addiction, marriage separation, active shame — so leaders can hold those conversations with care rather than rushing past them. A closing appendix collects twenty-two Scripture-grounded affirmations on identity in Christ, formatted to copy, print, or post as a daily reminder.
Whether you're leading a group for the first time or you've led dozens, this guide gives you the structure to talk honestly about shame and forgiveness — not just cover the material.
NASB-grounded throughout, matching the theology and Scripture translation of the companion book.

Paul T. Barham writes about love because he has needed it to survive. His own story includes marriage separation, addiction and recovery, and years spent rebuilding what estrangement had broken - the kind of wreckage that teaches you which parts of love actually hold. He is a bi-vocational lay evangelist who preaches about once a month at a small chapel in North Carolina, and a software engineering executive with a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science. Raised Southern Baptist, he now describes himself simply as a non-denominational, Bible-centered Christian. Paul believes the mark of a Christian isn't correct doctrine alone - it's love that survives contact with a broken life.
