The Creativity Diagram : The Theory of a Creative Ecosystem

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Most books about creativity describe a process. This one describes a place.Artist and educator Neal Von Flue offers a map rather than a method: a diagram-part Venn and part color wheel-built from three forces that shape our creative lives. Study is what you know about your craft and its history. Influence is everything you let in from the outside of your discipline. And The Individual is what you bring to the mix. The areas where they overlap produce their own territories with positives and hazards, Theft/Translation, Isolation/Formalism, Fear/Vulnerability. Where all three dissolve together is the muddy, rich residue that every artist can rely on.Drawing on nearly thirty years of studio practice and teaching, Von Flue argues that ideas are not rare. The useful question is not where they come from but how to be ready when they arrive. Treating creativity as an ecosystem with its own seasons and weather, he shows how to locate yourself on the diagram, identify what your work is missing, and deliberately move toward it - in the same way that a painter reaches for a complementary color.Illustrated throughout and grounded in candid accounts of the author's own successes and failures, the book closes with more than thirty practical exercises arranged by force, designed to pull a stalled practice or work back into balance. The book also compares the theory it articulates to other established models of creativity.Written for working artists in any medium, it is a guide for building your own habitat in the creative environment. And it is a problem-solving tool, pointing towards solutions to artistic challenges, and towards growth. Nº de ref. del artículo: 9798997166403
