Tech Equity isn't a trend. It's a pathway to freedom. For decades, the disability and aging services field has operated on a framework built in 1988—before the internet existed and when "independence" was measured by compliance rather than choice. Today, we face a massive workforce crisis and a generation demanding autonomy, yet we are trying to solve 2025 problems with outdated tools.
In Tech Equity, Precious "Preciosa" Myers-Brown, The Voice of Enabling Technology™, delivers a blueprint for transformation. Drawing on over three decades of leadership experience and the legacy of her grandmother, Francena Brown Hicks, Preciosa moves beyond the debate of "man vs. machine" to reveal how technology—when designed with humanity at the center—becomes a partner in liberation.
This is not a technical manual about devices; it is a manifesto for freedom. Inside, you will discover:

Precious "Preciosa" Myers-Brown (PMB) is The Voice of Enabling Technology(TM), a Transformation Strategist, Dream Technologist, and Chief Innovation and Dream Officer (CINO). She is the Founder and CEO of Vista Supports, LLC, the first Black-owned, minority-led, full-service enabling technology and remote supports company in the United States dedicated to IDD and aging services. Research validates her as the first woman of color to found a full-service enabling technology and remote supports company in this specialized lane. A lifelong advocate since age 14, she brings 38 years of leadership in direct human support across disability services, IDD, mental health, and HCBS systems. PMB led the creation of Washington DC's first smart home designed for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and pioneered remote supports implementation beginning in 2006, years before the approach was widely adopted. She was featured in the BBC Storyworks documentary The Human Component, broadcast globally and highlighted at CES 2024. Trained in assistive technology at CSUN and certified as an Aging in Place Specialist, she holds a BA in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz and completed the CDO Executive Scholar program at Kellogg Executive Education, Northwestern University.
