Sinopsis
The ABCs to Ranching (hardcover) is a cultural perspective on ranching in South Texas.
In this lively ranch adventure, David, a mischievous young boy determined to help his father with the chores, heads out with his dad and his loyal cowdog, Lucky, to spend the weekend working and exploring their South Texas ranch. "Let's go," he yells to his Catahoula Cowdog as his father warns him not to get underfoot. From herding Hereford cattle to spotting mischievous deer, curious jackrabbits, sly cattle egrets, and even rattlesnakes, David learns the beauty and challenges of ranch life. Along the way, he discovers Native American arrowheads, rides his horse Blaze, and encounters Texas wildlife and plants-from lizards and quail to prickly pear cactus and mesquite trees. Through humor, mishaps, and lessons in responsibility, David deepens his bond with his dad while celebrating cowboy traditions passed down through generations-all centered on the alphabet.
