Sinopsis

David Wallace joins Cambria Financial’s New York branch believing he has found the defining job of his career.

His new boss, Alasdair Stewart, has transformed an obscure Welsh bank’s Manhattan outpost into its most profitable operation. David is hired to give that business technological independence—and builds a secure network designed to keep the branch running even if its own head office turns against it.

When the financial crisis strikes in 2008, Alasdair’s caution leaves New York standing while banks around it collapse. The branch becomes Cambria’s lifeline. Alasdair appears destined for the top job.

Instead, the board appoints Dr. Cadwgan Rhun.

Rhun begins dismantling Alasdair’s authority. Auditors probe the New York systems. Trusted employees disappear. Then Alasdair is abruptly fired, and two operatives from Wales demand unrestricted access to the technology David built.

Months later, evidence of a murder-for-hire plot is discovered on Alasdair’s computer.

The files appear conclusive: a contract, dark-web activity, cryptocurrency records and a trail leading directly to the man Rhun replaced. But the deeper David looks, the less the evidence makes sense. Access occurred when Alasdair was not in the building. Timestamps have been altered. Security records have been erased. Someone has used David’s own systems to construct the perfect crime.

Now investigators are asking questions—and David must decide how much of the truth he is prepared to uncover.

Because exposing the people who framed Alasdair could cost David his career, his freedom and the life he has spent decades building. Staying silent would leave an innocent man buried beneath evidence David helped make possible.
